The CSV Seniors group brings together all CSV members over the age of 65. The CSV Seniors were founded in the 1990s, modeled on the German "Seniorenunion". This was initiated by Léon Bollendorf and Nicolas Estgen. Thus, in 1992, the "Christian-Social Seniors Club" was established for the first time, before the CSV Seniors were definitively anchored as a sub-organization of the CSV in 1998.
In the Interest of Older People
The goal of the CSV Seniors is to actively contribute to the formation of opinion within the party and to specifically represent the concerns and issues of the older generations. They advocate for seniors to be able to participate in our society equally in social life and for old-age poverty to remain a thing of the past for most elderly people in this country. Hence, the main focuses of the committee's recent political work have also been on old-age pensions, long-term care insurance, and pensions.
The seniors' association also aims to ensure that the knowledge, skills, and commitment of the older members are not lost to the party.
The CSV Seniors are a member of the ESU (European Seniors' Union) at the European level. Want more information? Contact us at csv@csv.lu
