The CSF brings together all women who are members of the CSV. Today, the CSF represents over 3,800 women and accounts for a little more than a third of all CSV members (36 percent). The CSF is autonomous in its organization, activities, and positions in relation to the party. It deals with all social and political issues, with the specific situation of women naturally being the focus.
The Christian-social women were founded on November 27, 1952. At a time, therefore, when the role of women in society was very different from today. In politics, women had few opportunities and chances to actively participate as elected representatives.
Since its founding, the CSF has been active on two levels. On the one hand, for the rights of women, their specific concerns in society, and for equality between men and women. On the other hand, the CSF ensures the strengthening of the role of women in politics and especially in the Christian-social people’s party.
Throughout the years, the CSF has more than proven its necessity with its commitment and engagement.
