CSJ: Youth in the CSV

The CSJ brings together the youth of the CSV. With 900 members, it is the largest youth party in the country. The youth work autonomously from the parent party and represent their own opinions both internally and externally.

Why does a CSJ exist? What do we, the youth, do?

Progress through evolution!

Our slogan “Progress through evolution” is meant to describe our political style and clarify what sets us apart from other youth parties: that we are not making a revolution, not engaging in pure populism, but want to contribute to society through well-founded positions.

New ideas for tomorrow!

In the Christian Social Youth, the CSJ, you can exchange ideas with other young people, find solutions together, and fight for their implementation. Just observing is not enough for us! We want to co-determine our future. Therefore, our goal is to integrate our own demands and future visions into everyday politics and thus represent the interests of the youth. As a youth organization, we have the opportunity to tackle topics on which the CSV is still hesitant, but which can be reality tomorrow. It is therefore important that young people regularly bring fresh air into our party. Because only through a strong CSJ can the CSV remain a dynamic people's party, in which every individual counts – including the youth!

The CSJ stands by the "C" and the "S" in its name, not only out of tradition, but also because we are still firmly convinced of the importance of these values today.

Our History – A Claim for the Future!

Since its founding in December 1953, the CSJ has consistently demonstrated its willingness and ability to engage in decisive discussions. We are particularly proud, as a Christian-social youth, to count such great political figures as Jean Spautz, and of course Jean-Claude Juncker, among our CSJ predecessors. Like them, we aim to orient our politics around the Christian-humanist image of humanity and its principles of solidarity, social justice, and subsidiarity.

Politics out of Conviction: Open, Social, and Responsible!

The CSJ stands by the "C" and "S" in its name, not only out of tradition, but because we are still convinced of the importance of these values today. The human being must remain at the center of all state organization in the future. His dignity is and will remain the most important thing for us. For us, everyone has the right to shape their life freely and to realize themselves. However, a person can only develop his full potential within a community. Therefore, each of us has a responsibility not only for ourselves but also for our fellow human beings. Without this social responsibility and the social commitment of its members, no free society can last long.

A Political Home for Every Person!

The CSJ is not a Catholic church association. We pursue a Christian-social inspired politics that is there for all our fellow human beings. Anyone who can identify with our principles is warmly welcome in the CSJ, whether believers of all religions or non-believers, whether Luxembourgers or non-Luxembourgers. This diversity is indeed one of our great strengths and justifies the CSV's claim to be a people's party.

Political Engagement with Fun!

Shaping politics is certainly hard work, but it is also fun in a dynamic and enjoyable team of young people. Thus, in the CSJ, you have the opportunity to meet many other young people from Luxembourg and our European partner countries. CSJ members are active at various levels, whether in municipalities, sections, and districts, or on a national or international level. In addition, the CSJ offers its members educational courses and working groups on various political topics. Alongside this political function, the CSJ also includes cultural and sporting leisure activities, celebrations, and of course, a friendly drink among colleagues.
