Discussion with the Luxembourg Farmers’ Central Association

The CSV members from the Commission for Agriculture, Food and Viticulture — President Jeff Boonen as well as MPs Octavie Modert, Emile Eicher and Jean-Paul Schaaf — held discussions with representatives of the farmers’ federation. The main issues the sector is struggling with were on the agenda.

Among other things, what is giving farms a headache are the reform of the property tax, the EU Water Framework Directive, the reform of the EU’s agricultural policy, and the law on renaturation. The high prices for fuel and fertiliser have not yet filtered through, but in the long term this will be the case, according to the representatives of the Centrale paysanne.
